Royalty of El Campo
Christopher Luera ECHS staff writer
Homecoming for the 2021-22 school year was Friday, September 3rd. The Homecoming King, Tristan Harper, was announced at the pep rally earlier in the day and the homecoming Queen, Dharma Sabrsula, was announced later at the game.
The homecoming game was preceded by spirit week where students dressed up disney or nickelodeon themed on Monday, as twins on Tuesday, western on Wednesday, heroes or villains on Thursday, and red out on Friday. Many students participated in spirit week last week creating a lively environment as many weren’t too worried about being dress coded and were able to express their El Campo spirit.
Voting for homecoming king and queen finalists took place on Wednesday, August 25th. The 4 finalists were announced Friday, August 27th, which consisted of students:
Darby Lutrick - Anchor Club, Ella Jenkins - Student Council & Volleyball, Dharma Sabrsula - Cross Country, Madison Breland - Band, Cedrick Kimble - Band, Carter Hlavinka - NHS, Jackson Jensen - FFA & Student Council, and Tristan Harper - Football. Congratulations to all Homecoming king and queen finalists!
King and Queen nominees were submitted by clubs. Prior to nomination, everyone was given a chance to join clubs at the recent club fair held just weeks before, giving all students an equal opportunity to be nominated.
The process of nominating through clubs started last year to get more kids involved and give students more equal opportunities to be nominated for Homecoming King and Queen. This process was welcomed by many teachers and students alike.
Again a big congratulations to our El Campo royalty of the 2021-22 school year, King, Tristan Harper, and Queen, Dharma Sabrsula.
