A new way to watch the Birds By: Juliana Vasquez

The 2020-21 school year has brought many new changes. One big change for football fans is how to obtain tickets for this year’s Ricebird football games.

Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Wayne Condra says, “We can seat 1,700 on the home side. On visitors its 954. All tickets will be online this year. No cash exchange. Monday we will open up ticket sales to all participants’ parents, Tuesday ticket sales are open to season ticket holders, Wednesdays tickets will be open to the student body, Thursday whatever seats are left will be open to the public…”.

He then went on to state that parents and season ticket holders will be allowed two tickets. Students will only be allowed one.

When asked about the precautions the football team is taking Condra said, “We clean everything we use. On the sideline we are gonna try to spread the team out as far as that goes. Players will wear a mask when they’re not out on the field playing.”

There will also be extra precautions taken in the stands. Administrators will be there to enforce social distancing, you aren’t allowed to sit with a group bigger than 10 people, band and dolls will be sitting in chairs in the endzone instead of the stands, and they are only selling pre-packaged food in the concession stands.

Condra is very optimistic for this year's season. “We have a great group of guys… We look to improve each and every week…”

This year's football season  is going to look different than our usual ones, yet it's very promising.

Editor’s note: Purchase tickets online through the ECISD website for home games. Away games tickets are purchased through the home school.
