UNDERSTANDING FINANCIAL AID

To be eligible for financial aid, students must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The application can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov 

TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID

GRANTS/SCHOLARSHIPS--Financial aid that students do not have to repay.

LOANS--Borrowed money that students must repay with interest.

WORK-STUDY--Lets students work and earn money to help pay for school.

THE HAZLEWOOD ACT--a state of Texas benefit that provides qualified Veterans, spouses, and dependent children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition exemption, including most fee charges, at public institutions of higher education in Texas.  This does not include living expenses, books, or supply fees.
