Veteran’s Day Program By: Allison Bena
Exactly one hundred years ago, World War ended on November 11. This is now the day that we call Veteran’s Day. On this special occasion America celebrates and honors all those who fought in any war for our country.
On Monday, November 12, ECHS will hold a Veterans Day program from 8:45-9:40 at the high school to honor those who fought for our country. All veterans are invited to come to have coffee and visit with other veterans in the library from 8:00-8:30 a.m. and then attend the program until 9:40 in the auditorium. Other family members may also attend if they wish to. Guest speaker, Tom Runnells who was a sniper in Vietnam, will speak about some of his stories and experiences.
Juniors and seniors will be able to attend the program in person but due to limited space in the auditorium, freshman and sophomores will watch from their classrooms as they video the program. During this week, there will be small stars with veterans names on them hanging from the ceiling tiles inside of “A” building to recognize our heroes.
If you are a veteran or you know of a veteran who would like to attend the program please be in the auditorium by 8:30 a.m. If you plan to attend the small coffee and visiting session in the library, it starts at 8. We look forward to seeing our heroes in red, white, and blue.
