Prom 2020 by: Anastasia Hobbins
Filling the air with laughter and music, prom will be held on Saturday, March 7 at ECHS. Juniors and seniors are invited to spend the evening enjoying a unique experience with their friends.
“The march will take place in the courtyard and the dance will be in the Ricebird Gym,” Prom coordinator Alicia Aguilar said.
Parents are welcome to view the grand march and take pictures, as well as, join in the father-daughter and mother-son dances.
“We are looking into having someone take pictures during the grand march very similar to what happens at graduation.”
Aguilar alongside a group of 7-10 students work every Tuesday and Thursday working on planning and decorations.
“The theme voted on last year was Enchanted Forest,” Aguilar said.
The gym will be filled with fairies, mushrooms, plants, water fountains, etc. with a color scheme of gold, brown, green, and ivory.
“Parents and prom groups can come into the gym from 11-4pm to take pictures,” Aguiar said.
Dress code for prom can be found in the student handbook.
“Contracts and invitations will be available the week of prom,” Aguilar said.
Students attending must sign a contract in the principal's office before they receive their ticket.
“One thing we are doing differently is the tickets,” Aguilar said. “Each student who is attending prom will receive a souvenir bracelet that will be the “ticket”. The bracelet must be worn when checking in for the grand march.”
Tickets are free for seniors and high point juniors, but $10 for anyone else.
“It's not something that every student is able to attend so they should take advantage of the opportunity,” Aguilar said.
